After leading the charge in criticizing the response to the Christmas underwear bombing, Pete King is tapped to keep the drumbeat going as the GOP’s voice in its weekly address.
He acknowledges President Obama’s admission of problems and the determination to fix them, but then pivots to target plans to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and close Gitmo as sending mixed messages.
“September 11th is not ancient history - it’s all too real,” Long Island’s King says. “The people in my community certainly get it. American families get it. Now it’s time for the Administration in Washington to stop sending mixed messages and get it too.
“One of the first things we need to do is pass the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act, a common-sense bill Republicans have proposed to prevent terrorists from being brought on to our soil,” he says. This bill would help stop the misguided plan to put Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other 9/11 terrorists on trial in downtown Manhattan. It’s an enormous, unnecessary risk, as is housing terrorists at the proposed ‘Gitmo North’ facility near Chicago.”
You get the feeling King’s stock is rising in the GOP.
