Pete King's Thoughts & Whereabouts: 1/27 - 1/28
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. - GOP Conference. Discuss our reaction to what we expect the President will say in the State of the Union tonight. He will probably talk about the middle class & jobs, but continue his liberal policies.
10:00 a.m. - 1:15 a.m. - Homeland Security Committee hearing in 311 Cannon Bldg. regarding the Christmas terrorist attack. The Obama administration is in disarray on terrorism. Totally unclear who is in charge. Sec. Napolitano didn't appear to testify because she said she would be in Europe - - but actually had already returned. I was very critical of White House refusal to make information available.
1:30 p.m. - Interview in 339 Cannon with Dave Evans (WABC-TV) on State of the Union.
1:40 p.m. - 2:20 p.m. - Routine votes on House floor.
3:00 p.m. - Introduce bill (H.R. 4542) to keep terror trials out of the United States.
3:15 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - In Intelligence Committee briefing on Ft. Hood.
9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. - On House floor for State of the Union speech. President had pretty good delivery and made moves toward the middle class voters and jobs - - but still had basic liberal approach, defending stimulus, etc. Virtually no mention of terrorism. Overall disappointing.
Thursday, January 28th
8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Delta Shuttle to LaGuardia. Flight almost returns to Washington because of snow & fog at LaGuardia. Landed safely after about 45 minute delay.
