Pete King's Thoughts & Whereabouts: 12/9 - 12/10
Wednesday, December 9, 2009
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon - Hearing on Madoff victims in Financial Services Committee.
12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Votes on House floor.
2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Hearing in Homeland Security Committee on White House gate crashers - I attempt to have Desiree Rogers subpoenaed and am defeated 16-14. (Closer than expected since Dems have 21-13 edge.)
4:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. - Waiting for Dems to get their act together to bring Financial Regulation bill (HR 1473) to Floor. Apparently much disunity in the ranks. Finally vote on the Rule for the debate.

11:45 a.m. - 12:00 noon - Interview on Fox News channel regarding White House gate crashers.
9:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. - Votes throughout the day on various bills. The most important was a so-called omnibus bill (HR 3288) which includes spending $446.8 billion for six different departments - an increase of 11% over last year. I voted no.
We then voted late into the night on various amendments to Rep. Barney Frank's Financial Regulation Bill (HR 4173) which would extend federal control over our economy. The voting on this will continue tomorrow. I believe there is a total of 36 amendments.
