Tuesday, February 2, 2010
9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
- Delta Shuttle from LaGuardia to Reagan National.

12:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. - Lunch at Pentagon with Army Secretary John McHugh. John and I were both elected to Congress in 1992 and he represented upstate New York (Watertown area) for 17 years. President Obama appointed him Secretary of the Army last summer. Doing a terrific job. Facing many issues including Ft. Hood shootings plus Afghanistan & Iraq.

3:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. - Meet in office with John Tarpey, a constituent who is a Captain in the Navy Reserves and is in Washington attending a two week course at the National Defense University. John serves on my Military Academy Selection Committee and is a dedicated patroit. It was great to be with him.

4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Meet with local police who are in gang-fighting unites. Very concerned by cuts in Obama budget which decimate their Regional Information Sharing System (RISS). Told them I would fight to restore the funds.

4:35 p.m. - 4:50 p.m. - Meet with Akramul Zader, the Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States. Bangladesh is an emerging democracy and a secular Muslim state which is a strong ally against Islamic terrorism.
