Pete King's Thoughts & Whereabouts: 9/4 - 9/8

Friday, September 4th - Sunday, September 6th
To South Bend, Indiana with Rosemary for Notre Dame Law School reunion with Lanny Bonenberger, Tom Curtin, Dick Manning, Tim Ward and Charlie Weiss. The six of us spent our law school years living together in a dumpy house which was demolished and turned into a parking lot after we graduated.

It was great to get together with them and their wives. All are healthy and doing well. The weekend was capped by the Irish beating Nevada 35-0. Jimmy Clausen’s passing game was particularly sharp.

Monday Labor Day
7:40 a.m. – WOR Radio interview with Rita Cosby filling in for John Gambling. Discussed Presdient’s upcoming Wednesday night speech to Congress – I’m not sure where he can go to regain traction without antagonizing his rabid left wing.

10:45 a.m. – Noon – To Jericho with Chuck Schumer to present 9/11 Medal of Valor to family of hero firefighter Glenn Winuk. Very moving. I hope it provided some consolation to his family. (See 9/9/09 Daily News Editorial)

Tuesday. September 8th
2:30 p.m. – Fly back to Washington, DC

6:30 p.m. – On House floor for routine votes - No one seems to know what the President will say tomorrow night
