Congressman Pete King Attends Massapequa Fire Department Wetdown Ceremony

Last Saturday the Massapequa Fire Department held a dedication and wetdown ceremony for three new fire engines. I was proud to take part in this ceremony for these state of the art vehicles. The Massapequa Fire Department does a truly outstanding job and is admired and respected by the entire Massapequa community. I am especially proud that the Massapequa Fire Department has named me an Honorary Chief. As Co-Chairman of the Congressional Fire Caucus I strongly support the men and women of the fire service.

Despite the recent tragic MS-13 murders in their communities, the people of Central Islip and Brentwood have extraordinary spirit, courage and resilience. Today I attended the Spring Festival and Post-Easter Egg Hunt at the Central Islip Rec Center organized by Suffolk County Legislator Monica Martinez. This event was scheduled before the 4 victims were murdered. Because the Easter Egg Hunt was to be held on the soccer field just adjacent to where the bodies of the murder victims were discovered, considerable thought was given to cancelling or postponing the event. But Legislator Martinez and the people of the community decided they had to stand up to evil and demonstrate hope and courage. So today, despite overcast skies, rain and drizzle, the spirit of the people shined through and the Spring Festival went ahead with everyone -- especially the many kids who were there -- celebrating life and praying for peace and justice. The people of Central Islip are determined that the good people will win!

Paid for by Pete King for Congress.
