Congressman Pete King speaks to 4th and 5th grade students at Our Lady of Lourdes School in West Islip

West Islip, NY - Congressman Pete King (R-Seaford) had an enjoyable morning speaking to 4th and 5th grade students at Our Lady of Lourdes School in West Islip. I discussed how our government works as well as my role in Congress. An impressive group of kids who were very informed on the governmental process.

Tonight (Thursday) I had a terrific meeting and wide ranging discussion with Brentwood Firefighters at their firehouse on Broadway in the heart of Brentwood. At a time when Brentwood is still recovering from the recent horrific MS-13 murders, these Firefighters are in so many ways the heart and soul of the community. I commended them for their dedicated service and the sacrifices they make for their fellow Brentwood residents.

The range of topics we discussed included the necessity of supporting the Police, FBI and ICE in the war against MS-13. I also emphasized the need to reform the federal government's unaccompanied minor program which has resulted in more than 4000 undocumented young immigrants being relocated in Suffolk County, with a disproportionate number of MS-13 defendants who were recently arrested in Suffolk being from that group. We also discussed the 9/11 Zadroga Healthcare Act and the need for the fire service to have effective communications systems. This was truly a great evening of solid discussion and terrific camaraderie with outstanding people who represent the very best of Long Island and America. I am proud to be their Congressman!
