After Man Dies on Flight to JFK from Nigeria, King Calls for New Ebola Screening Procedures

Newsday.com – Federal officials should change screening procedures at Kennedy Airport to ensure that travelers from West African nations who might be carrying the Ebola virus are kept separate from passengers from other countries, Rep. Peter King said Thursday.

It’s time to take America back from the scientists and epidemiologists. Their advice is needed to finish off COVID-19 but theirs cannot be the final word.

This isn’t the early days of the pandemic last March and April when genuine fear of the unknown caused us to give absolute credence to all the pronouncements of the CDC, Dr. Fauci, et al as the spoken word. Better to be safe than sorry we thought. But now that vaccinations and herd immunity are causing a significant decline in the infection rate, we must have an open debate as to how much damage is being done by such rigid obeisance to CDC pronouncements and the contradictory epistles of Dr. Fauci.

Requiring kids, if they are in school at all, to sit behind plexiglass shields, talk through one or two masks and have no real social engagement is bound to cause psychological damage to untold numbers of kids now and in later life. And then there are the kids who must learn remotely from home either 2-3 days a week or in some cases be at home every school day. This despite “the science” which show the infection rate among school age kids to be almost non-existent. Common sense would dictate that continued social isolation in schools will result in far more serious mental and psychological illness than would be caused by COVID.

This, of course, extends to businesses such restaurants which also have low infection rates but because of arbitrary restrictions and conditions are forced to lay off hundreds of thousands of employees or shut down permanently.

Scientists and epidemiologists are experts in their field but their view is necessarily limited to a very narrow prism which does not take into account social development or economic realities. And there is also the stark reality that even in their specialized field they are often wrong. Even in late February and early March last year Dr. Fauci was assuring Americans that COVID was not a great threat.

I distinctly recall receiving a Congressional briefing on COVID from all the top government medical and scientific experts last year on March 6th. The briefing was held in a overcrowded meeting room three levels below ground in the bowels of the Capitol. No one wore a mask and no real alarm bells were sounded. I do distinctly recall one of us asking about the advisability of wearing a mask and the experts patiently explaining why masks could actually be harmful.

Yes medical experts should have a seat at table when decisions are being made but their opinions should not supersede parents, business owners, workers or community leaders. We can no longer allow our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren to be run by these unelected experts or by government leaders who use these experts to grab more power and control for themselves at everyone else’s expense!

Says everything you need to know about Sleepy Joe, he promotes a babbling buffoonto be his lead medical advisor. Someone who is as much out of touch as he is.

Very well said. The numbers are proof that positive rate is dropping and dropping. Stay safe 🍀

Agree.... get these kids back to some normalcy! God knows they need it!

Pete, I’m shocked. We have just registered 500,000 deaths in America in less than a year from Covid and you are just blowing this thing off. It’s this degree of government irresponsibility that got us into this mess in the first place. Don’t give up now before the thing is properly resolved. Only a small minority have received the vaccine so far and it’s proving very difficult still to get it. Until the vast majority have been vaccinated this is not put down properly.

Come to my job and I'll show you if the rates dropped.

Absolutely. This is why when my plane is about to land I like to go ahead and take the controls from the pilots. Really, really optimal results every time.

I agreed Pete!

We had families in my school with 3-4 kids that got COVID twice. The kids have recovered... with many side effects that include motor ticks, memory issues and seizures. No one talks about the long term effects of COVID in kids.

Really Pete? What's next China controls Joe!!!

Open the country and no more mandates!

So, we shouldn’t listen to scientists and researchers? Noted 🤦🏽‍♀️ I will discuss this with my life insurance company.

I agree the some extent .. working in a Junior High School we have had kids spreading it among themselves. Before break while still remote one class had 5 kids with covid .Now that we are going back into the buildings it’s scary to think of how many will return with it & how many times we will have to close the school to just reopen again . It’s a psychological stress not only on the kids but the schools staff as well . Everyone is talking about mental health issues of the kids but many adults are not doing well ... NY has to bring back people & until Cuomo opens things up people won’t come . Do you know why people go to FL ? There are NO domestic travel restrictions there , their entertainment industry is open ( theme parks , restaurants, hotels, they have sporting events & shows !! ) they are living life .. granted you still need a mask & social distancing . Cuomo has to have his powers revoked & since we live in a Democratic state we will continue to live in COVID conditions forever . This along with other factors have NYS/ NYC residents fleeing to more open & productive states ...NJ has a real estate boom , FL has a real estate boom , NC & SC all places NY residents including my own family are looking to escape NY for .. I feel our city & state will never return to anything close to Normal again

Pete you are 💯 right .... the numbers of covid deaths are horrible but also misconstrued.... the Shame is that our governments has used this horrible illness to strip away our freedoms and for political gain ... it needs to stop and stop now ...we need truth and transparency on this

Absolutely!!!!!

Why have experts? Im thinking if we had followed their direction from the onset, we might be in alot better shape. Where was the govt economic plan " in case of pandemic". That is what we could have used.

500,000 plus dead, countless homes destroyed our you kidding me so disappointed in you Pete

Dear Congressman. Who knew in January, How Deadly COVID 19 was. But did not Tell anybody. Not even the Governors of States. Stop blaming the scientist

Beautifully stated and very true. This is all part of their "control" mentality.

Good job Pete.....thank you

I agree. A year in and the experts are still guessing. Wear a mask. Now wear 2 masks. What next hazmat suits.

It is true! Obama used discretion during the sars epidemic and we need to temper what the science is with acceptable risk. End of the day we are a nation of free will.

Something about the definition of “essential worker” should have been a Red flag to any sensible person- it seemed more like a designation of who was more expendable to take on the possibility of sickness and death. Instead of spending trillions on climate initiatives, stockpiles of emergency supplies ready to retrofit designated containment sites should be prioritized. Our foolish “leaders” give us “icing” conveniently overlooking the greater need for “meat and potatoe” approaches to real life saving issues.

You’re correct along the lines with psychological damage Etc there is still not enough known about this virus some people can test negative but are positive and it cause wreak havoc to some - there’s not enough people gettin the monoclonal antibody therapy - people are still waiting can’t get appointments it’s totally disorganized and not enough is reaching the elderly or disabled that have no computers to sign up ...they will hopefully get a vaccine soon

you're nuts...or are you trying to get back in the good graces of the crazies you lost after defecting from Trump's election fraud lunacy?

The term “follow the science” is another one of those divisive terms used by the elitist radical left. They love to use the term to distinguish themselves as superior and all knowing and even to deny faith in our Creator simply because they think no one knows more than them individually and collectively. And yet they conveniently ignore other sciences that don’t fit their elitist, leftist agenda. Science clearly proves that their are only two genders and that a uniquely individual human is formed at conception.
