Congressman Pete King Discusses Override of Pres. Obama JASTA Veto

Press Release – Today’s historic Congressional override of President Obama’s veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA) is a victory for 9/11 families and the rule of law. JASTA will allow these families to sue the government of Saudi Arabia for any involvement it may have had in the 9/11 attacks. I am proud to have been the lead sponsor of JASTA in the House and am particularly proud to have worked so closely with 9/11 families, especially Terry Strada the widow of Tom Strada. JASTA is a precisely drawn bill. Despite what the President and the Saudis have claimed, JASTA merely closes a legal loophole and DOES NOT put American soldiers or diplomats at risk. It does allow 9/11 families to seek justice. God Bless America!!! (The Senate vote to override was 97-1; the House vote was 348-77.)
